There's no debate that most religious institutions toady are hierarchical and patriarchical. I'd like to hear more about how this came about. You've mentioned the rise in Abrahamic faiths had something to do with it. I agree. But what would have triggered this social change?
As an interesting side note, most Asian societies are patriarchical as well. They didn't have the same historical or social development as the West. So, it's interesting to ask why patriarchy was the "norm" in so many cultures across the globe.
