Wait till you see my brother's (and my) collection. He collects POP figures. It's not a lot but he's made a big deal out of it. Of course, I like collecting things as well: Stitch figures, and anything cute. I still think they're a waste of money, though. If you compare them to other things that have practical value, then they're worthless.

When I think about collectibles, I immediately think of Horkheimer and Adorno's "culture industry." Large companies are manufacturing consumables of pop culture, inevitably forcing us to buy these junk toys. But as much as they're trash, I still have them in my house - how ironic.
