Yes, manipulating others is a social skill. But I definitely do not mean what you might think this is. We're all going to lie to get what we want. The extreme end is having people too dumb to deceive.

I don't think anyone should cheat in major assessments or when the stakes are too high. In the realm of politics when lives are at stake, it certainly shouldn't be the case. In exams that will determine students' future, it also shouldn't be the case.

My dilemma is this: on one hand, I have students dumb enough to send me back the sample response. On the other, I might have students cheating without my knowing.

Neither is correct. But which should you prefer?
