Yes, totally agree with this. Too bad too many people will misconstrue your views as authoritarian and anti-democratic. Like you, I've observed that political discourse (and academic discourse) is gradually losing value. Like Brian Leiter argues, we can't generate epistemic value with discourses that aren't regulated. (I think back to the 2020 presidential debate and this manifests itself very clearly.) There're judges in the courtroom, teachers in the classroom. The antidote to this pandemic of mishandled free speech is moderation, be it internal or external.
