Your diagnoses are sharp and depressing at the same time. But writing is always writing for someone, i.e. the readers. As writers, our objective is to write for our writers. In doing so, we inevitably have to adjust our writing to suit our writers. The algorithms and publications are mere mediums to regulate this adjustment.

So, I wonder if it’s possible for us writers to ever write for our own sake? If we’re making writing our profession, would it ever be possible to write without restraint?
